"Year 8. An excursion to the city. On a bus. Listening to Dylan's John Wesley Harding. I kept re reading the song titles and loved how, especially on side two, they read like a little story. As I finished Salsola I noticed my record kind of does the same thing....."

"If I had to name some records in my collection that I would like this new one of mine to sit beside I'd say Gene Clark's No Other, Cody Chesnutt's The Headphone Masterpiece, The Chris Robinson Brotherhood's Phosphorescent Harvest and Don Walker's Hully Gully."

"Gene's because the label hated it, he stepped outside his usual thing, experimented and made a genius record. Cody's because it was largely recorded at home by him and is genius, Robinson because like Gene he is pushing himself all the time and Don because Hully Gully is lyrically and musically brilliant."


Salsola was recorded at the foot of a bed, children sleeping on the other side of the wall, recorded quietly. Recorded late 2014/early 2015, a headphone record, all written on a baritone uke, a stripped back to the uke version of the album may come out sometime,
