about

“One of my favourite things in the world to do is to walk around Melbourne on a rainy night with an ipod and listen to artists like Fred Neil, The Chris Robinson Brotherhood or acoustic Johnny Thunders solo recordings.”

“I think that inadvertently I made a record that is good for that kind of late night strolling with headphones in the rain sort of thing.”

Largely written in a two week burst of daily 20 minute writing sessions with a couple of older songs added in, Two Mountains and the Sea has an unintentional thematic quality that carries across the tracks.

In the past 12 months Ryan has released 2 instrumental guitar records (Palace Laundry and Let It Be Bleed), a tv soundtrack, a “b sides” collection and this new record.

With guest from a range of fantastic Melbourne bands the album was mastered by Greg Wadley.

Most instruments were played by Ryan but friends Ruth Lindsey, Andrew “Boogs” Alves (Clinkerfield, Miserable Little Bastards, Galax), Andre’ Hooke (Khancoban), Andrew Bonici (The Taylor Project, Khancoban), Elizabeth Taylor (The Taylor Project) and Andrew Williamson added some special extra parts.

A combination of influences that culminates in a sound that is unique and yet has a familiarity that is appealing. A guitar that can at times sound like three guitars and melodic vocals and harmonica that weave in and out of the guitar lines creating an intriguing sound that gains more depth with each subsequent listen.
